Commune was founded by Zoe Liu after she’d helped build & lead cultural strategy at two London agencies. We’re a collective of researchers & strategists using semiotics, trends & cultural analysis to help brands navigate change & unlock opportunity. In today’s world, culture can feel more complex, chaotic & contradictory than ever. But we can also put it very simply: culture = people. Culture is people doing things at scale, both driving & driven by shared meaning. And understanding how the two connect is where the magic happens. We do that by drawing the line from macro cultural shifts to the micro of how people’s wants, needs, attitudes, behaviours, etc. are changing - as a result, bringing clarity to how your brand can respond.

GLOBAL X LOCAL /

We draw on a global network of senior cultural strategists to cover markets in every continent. Then we bring them onto the core project team (rather than just treating them as suppliers). And in emerging markets where cultural strategy is less established, we train up local researchers. When your team is both truly global & locally immersed, the result is brand strategy that bridges the global & local with nuance & authenticity.
